Sustainability on the Bus
Here is the list of Simple changes that have been employed on the bus to make it more Sustainable.
Simple Changes Tour Bus
As we have yet to find a Water 'Creation' System, we must practice Water Conservation.
To collect rainwater, the bus uses it's awning to collect rainwater into (3) 5 gallon buckets.
The first bucket is left as is, and is used for watering the Garden if the need
arises.
The second bucket is painted black and placed on the top of the bus in Sun-Light
to form a Make-Shift Water Heater. This 5-gallon bucket has an attached
pipe that flows to an shower spickot that we can setup on the side of the bus to
take a shower. (With a curtain of course). This water is collected in a
small child's' wading pool, run through a Brita Water Filter and goes to filling
up our 5-gallon Toilet Flush Tank. (Rain water to Grey Water to Black Water)
The 'Clean' bucket gets filtered through (2) sets of Brita Water Filters, and is then used to fill our 5-gallon Drinking Water jug under the sink. This is obviously a precautionary measure, although we do like collecting rain water for drinking use, we generally fill up (10) 1-Gallon Water Jugs at public filling spigots when we need clean drinking water, only because of some of the heavily polluted areas we have been in, and because rainwater collection is not allowed in some municipalities.
This method gives us ample water supply, and allows for the water that is collected to be used almost to it's fullest potential while spending it's time on the Simple Changes Tour Bus.
